It was called work, but for me it has been life!

Leading teams through crises, building systems from the ground up, managing systems on the verge of collapse, negotiating access to life saving supplies in conflict and humanitarian settings, supporting countries to achieve sustainable development and mentoring them on new catalytic approaches, as well as ensuring that nobody is left behind…………….this for some would be work, but for me, it has been life.

Major body of work over the last 25 years…

  • Crisis Management

Over the last decades, I have had the privilege to lead several crisis responses such as the Ebola response in Nigeria in 2014, the averted humanitarian catastrophe in South Sudan in 2022, as well as ensuring leadership for teams and over a billion dollars a year in war stricken Yemen. I led the international community and team during the devastating onslaught of the Delta variant of COVID in Nepal in 2021, converting hotel floors to hospitals and ensuring access to vaccines.

  • Delivering results

Development planning and programming and ensuring support to countries to achieve the SDGs has been a hallmark of my work. This has included designing large scale projects to impact millions of peopie in need, as well as ensuring implementation and monitoring for results. Resource mobilization and advocacy were critical for delivering results for the people I have served across Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

  • Preventive and Strategic Diplomacy

Engaging Presidents, Prime Ministers, Ambassadors, Ministers and other officials of governments in ensuring that we worked together to prevent and mitigate issues that would affect the populations we serve, as well as ensuring bilateral and multilateral relationships and regional cooperations were leveraged for the same. As an accredited partnership broker and an Associate of the Partnership Brokers Association, I have been able to use these skills to build strategic alliances such as Humanitarian Diplomacy Action for diplomatic interventions and ‘good offices’ approaches.

  • Capacity Development

Over the last 25 years, I have not only delivered results but ensured transfer of knowledge and skills to local and international staff with a view of sustaining interventions. Capacity development has ranged from core programming and development skills to risk management, financial management, and those addressing issues of gender based violence, preventing sexual exploitation and abuse as well as other protection issues. On the job, in the field mentoring and coaching has been essential for building capacity of team members.
